An enormous equestrian facility in Ocala is officially on the market and in search of a new owner.
The Classic Mile Training Park Center in Ocala is up for grabs, with an initial asking price of about $37 million. A local television network, WCJB, reached out to Premier Sotheby’s International Realty to confirm that the famous property was indeed on the market, and received said confirmation.
Premier Sotheby’s International Realty would go on to declare that the facility was the largest equestrian property currently listed in the Sunshine State, and it's not exactly a stretch to believe that. Classic Mile Training Park Center consists of over 700 acres of territory that includes 20 individual barns and 70 different stables.
Classic Mile Training Park Center was first owned by famous breeder Fred Hooper, who rose to fame as a member of The Jockey Club, an honorary director of the Breeders' Cup, and later, one of the founders of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association. He also served as the President of the latter.
In 1985, Hooper then sold the facility to Domenic Martelli, who transformed the property into the first horse training facility in the Ocala area available to the general public.
