The average price of existing single-family homes in Marion County continues to rise.
It was understandable that the COVID-19 pandemic would put a dent into the average sales prices of homes, as people were unwilling to pack up and move into a new house. But by October of 2020, the market had rebounded and demand for houses had risen back up. One year later, and those numbers are even more promising.
The average price of a single-family house that was sold was $251,749 in October of 2020. That number ballooned to $287,044 in October of this year. The median sales price of houses sold in Ocala has taken off, too. That number was $245,000 in October, a notable increase of 28.9% since October of 2020.
Yet another encouraging statistic from the month of October was the raw volume of houses sold. The number of sales of existing Marion County single-family homes jumped up by 22.4% from October of 2020. This past October saw 733 houses get closed. In October of 2020, there were 599 home closings.
Last but not least, the overall amount of money spent on existing single-family homes in Marion County was significantly higher in October of 2021 than a year ago. The total sales volume of single-family homes eclipsed $210 million this October, whereas it sat at just a hair over $150 million last October.
