A former Major League Baseball star has sold his massive Ocala property to South Florida businessman Benjamin Leon.
Troy Glaus, a retired baseball star originally from California, enjoyed a thirteen year career in the big leagues that included 320 home runs with five different teams, most notably the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim- with whom he won the World Series and World Series MVP honors in 2002. A few years after that storybook career ended, he and his wife Ann (noted for her enthusiasm for horseback riding) retired to the town of Ocala, where the couple bought an enormous 9,288 square foot gated house complete with a pool, a guest house, a barn, a small, private arena, a three car garage, four bedrooms and four and a half baths. Now, six years later, the Glaus family has sold that estate.
The property, which is situated at 1551 SE 52nd Street and adjacent to the Ocala Drive In, lasted on the market for almost exactly three months before Benjamin Leon scooped it up for $6.05 million. Records show that Matt Varney, on behalf of Ocala Horse Properties, handled the transaction.
While it was still available, the property additionally marketed itself as located behind a "beautifully landscaped gated entrance," and right next to "enchanting woods."
