A major influx of “hyper convenience stores” have been hitting the scene lately in Marion County. This competition has snowballed into new stores popping up left and right. A new Circle K just applied to open adjacent to a planned RaceTrac. Another store in the works will feature a 5,462-square-foot store with 18 fueling stations and a diesel area, all on 2.5 acres.
A hyper-store is defined as being a minimum of 4,000 square feet with fresh food, coffee and beverages, seating areas, and WiFi. The proposed Circle K will sit on the corner of U.S. 27 and NW 35th Avenue. A RaceTrac will be going in on the opposite corner of the same intersection.
The Circle K on Silver Springs Blvd is almost complete. It’s a 5,135-square-foot location that replaced an older Circle K that was there prior. Two more 5,000+ square-foot stores are in the works currently.
Popular convenience store ‘Wawa’ is planning at least six hyper stores in Marion County, with construction beginning in 2019.
A new car wash has been proposed on a 1.05-acre lot in front of the East Silver Springs Walmart. The wash will be 12,200-square-feet and the project is called, “Ocala Car Wash,” with no other details listed.
