Ocala’s own Miguel Secillano may very well be the best math mind around. The cool part? He’s in third grade. Yes, the local 7-year-old at Dr. N.H. Jones will be deemed the “greatest math mind of all time” by Steve Harvey on Sunday night.
The two will be pitted against each other in several battles of wits geared towards Miguel’s advanced math knowledge. The episode was filmed in L.A. back in October. When Miguel and his father Philip first found out he’d made the cut after their second attempt, they were ecstatic.
On the show airing Sunday, Miguel is composed but giggly as he discusses his love for math. He explains how, "complicated numbers make [his] brain work.” His passion first came out as a two-year-old, when he used to count Play-Doh containers.
By age 4, he started dabbling in very complicated math. This is not his first appearance on national TV, however. He has already appeared on an ABC game show that features smart kids assist adult contestants. Miguel’s favorite thing about his experience with Steve Harvey? “Everything.”
