Downtown Ocala has been missing a hotel and many have speculated the addition of one would bring more traffic and overall attention to the area. It looks like we’ll find out, as on March 23rd a ground breaking ceremony will take place for a new Hilton Garden Inn. It was announced by hotelier Danny Gaekwad.
The hotel will be five-stories and feature 107 rooms. It will be just off of the square and take 15 to 18 months to build. Governor Rick Scott and other Florida leaders are expected to attend the ceremony.
Ocala citizens are very pleased at the announcement for the most part and once again, hope to see it spur activity downtown. For more information on the topic, check out the article on Ocala.com.
