There is exciting news for pizza lovers in Ocala. The incredibly popular Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza that is already a Gainesville favorite, is expanding to Marion County in the Grand Oaks Town Center on SW 42nd Street across from Trinity Catholic High School. This is essentially the first franchise for the company.
In the last eight years since the first Piesanos opened, the restaurant has achieved countless accolades and has opened three additional stores all while garnering a "devoted following."
The menu includes 28 specialty pies, as well as the option to build your own pizza from 37 different topping ingredients, including four styles of pepperoni. Patrons can choose a personal 8-inch pizza, a massive 2-foot pizza that could feed a crowd, or one of the more moderate options in between. The restaurant operates a 470° granite pizza oven, which may be why their pizza is so delicious. Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza also serves made-to-order pasta, 20 brews on tap, and more.
In other local restaurant news, Molly Maguire's Eatery moved from 10th Street at Pine Avenue to 17 SW 1st Avenue and will be open 9 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday. Furthermore, Tavern on the Square has recently expanded its hours to include lunch beginning at 11 AM Wednesday through Saturday, and it will offer a jazz brunch from 11 AM to 3 PM on Sunday.
