Construction of the new auto zone distribution center at Ocala/Marion County Commerce Park located north of US 27 and just east of Interstate 75 is under way. The other major newcomer to the property, a huge FedEx facility, is already up and running. Next on deck at the site is Chewie.com's distribution center.
The current AutoZone construction project is a $49 million endeavor to build out a 440,000square-foot facility. This new distribution center will bring about 192 full-time jobs to the Ocala area with an annual salary of approximately $38,000.This particular distribution center will serve retail stores throughout Florida and Puerto Rico, totaling 290 retail locations.
Both the city of Ocala as well as Marion County are financially contributing to help "draw down State financial incentives for AutoZone." The city is also going to provide reduced rates for electrical service for the first five years of operation, as well as an additional $500,000 in "application and permit fees related to construction."
