Ocala Regional Medical Center recently received a whopping financial investment of $56 million. This will provide for a tremendous amount of improvements as well as expansion. There will be a complete overhaul of the emergency department that will allow for more ER rooms as well as for an additional 34 patient beds. There will also be additional operating rooms and support facilities, plus increased catheterization lab space and a larger medical imaging center.
Not only will the investment allow for an improved healthcare facility, but the expansions are also going to create an impressive 80 new permanent jobs in the area, which is great for the local economy.
The current emergency department will grow from 7000 square feet of space to 12,000 square feet of space and will be able to treat almost 20,000 more patients annually that it currently is able to, given the expansion.
Improvements will allow the hospital to provide an even higher level of care than it already does, really creating a draw for the city of Ocala. Ocala Regional Medical Center's level II trauma is already a major draw, as it has seen a 26% increase in patient treatment in the last four years, since its opening.
There is also a new residency program at the hospital, and the expansion plans will allow the program to grow to include nine residency specialties with 158 residency positions available.
These major enhancements to the healthcare landscape of Marion County are significant, and for more details and information on the plans for improvement, be sure to read the full article at Ocala.com.
