Ocala is horse country, and the holiday horse shows have begun!
The Horse Shows In The Sun (HITS) Ocala Holiday Series began earlier this month, so preparation is officially underway for the big circuit that includes ten weeks of hunter/jumper shows that will begin on January 17th. The first holiday Ocala HITS show was held from December 1-4 and the second holiday show began this past Wednesday and wraps up today.
The $25,000 Grand Prix on December 4 was won by Aaron Vale, based out of Williston , with horse Carlo and he also finished second riding Quality On Top.
The HITS Circuit gives new horses an opportunity in the ring in order to find out what they are capable of and to get some practice before the big circuit in January. Two weeks of HITS shows in Ocala draw more than 1,200 horses to the competition. Each Ocala show features a $25,000 Grand Prix, as well as dozens of other classes for hunters as well as jumpers. There is no cost of admission to attend the Ocala Holiday HITS shows, which were held at HITS Post Time Farm at in Ocala.
