With constant growth in Ocala, it should come as no surprise that there is more residential development on the horizon in Marion County and potentially a new equine services development, as well.
A new housing development was just approved by the Marion County commission and will be located southwest of the Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club.
This new development is slated to have 269 homes as part of an upscale equestrian community with an equine services development just northwest of this new residential community. There is some concern over the disconnect between the housing development and the location of the equine services development, as well as with the undetermined date as to when and an equestrian area will actually be built. However the residential developer recently submitted a plan for The Equestrian Estates concept that would occupy approximately 500 acres. While there is no guarantee that the equestrian facility will come to fruition, it has been deemed independent from the approval of the development of the residential community. Furthermore, regardless of the equine services development, residents of the new community will be allowed to keep horses on their properties. This is another point of contention among locals in the area.
This new planned community, which has yet to be named, is bordered to the west by Northwest 100th Avenue, to the east by Southwest 80th Avenue and to the south by State Road 40.
