Ocala is getting a new FedEx Ground hub and the entire community is quite excited about it. The company has partnered with the city and the move-in has created a sense of accomplishment for the city. It is a great project that will bring in over 300 new employees to work over the next couple of weeks. Bringing new jobs to the community is great news for the economy of Ocala and Marion County.
Plans to bring a FedEx hub to Ocala has been in the works since 2005. FedEx and the city are creating plenty of opportunity for the region as a whole.
The Ocala FedEx hub will process approximately 22,000 packages per hour, 24 hours per day. Initial packages from the facility will be sent out as early as August 14th.
FedEx is a multinational courier delivery services company that is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. The company is known for its overnight shipping service, but also for "pioneering a system that could track packages and provide real-time updates on package location...which is a feature that has now been implemented by most other carrier services."
