Strawberry season is upon us, and with so many strawberry farms in Florida, strawberry festivals are an inevitable and delicious occurrence. This past Saturday, March 3rd, marked the Third Annual Habitat Strawberry Festival, which took place at McPherson Government Complex at 601 SE 25th Avenue in Ocala.
The event was hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Marion County and included an incredible lineup of activities and shows, including the 2nd Miss Strawberry Beauty pageant, Car Show and a new category for exhibitors—manufactured resale. In addition to providing a great time for families, the goal of the festival was to raise funds to build a home for a family in the Marion County community and to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission to strengthen communities, build hope and provide dignified housing solutions.
The Humane Society of Marion County also partnered with the festival and helped to host a pet parade contest, an adoption section, doggie trash bag stations and water in the pet area.
Furthermore, strawberry flats were on sale for $18 per flat, and you certainly could not miss the strawberry pie eating contest. Live music at the festival featured the musical stylings of the Dane Myers Band.
The festival was such a great success and served such wonderful causes that it is sure to be back next year
