Downtown Ocala is chock full of art, history, wonderful dining and entertainment. There are so many experiences worth exploring, including Marion Theatre, which offers an old-time movie-going destination, The Wine Experience, which is a great spot for those who like to imbibe, and so much more. The night life, downtown restaurants, and events on the square offer something for all ages to enjoy.
Various community organizations have worked together with city staff to create new downtown Ocala traditions, most notably First Friday Art Walk.
On the first Friday of each month from September through May, downtown Ocala offers a magical evening from 6-9pm hosting local artists and their work, live music on the Downtown Square and plenty of art activities. In addition to buying the art and listening to the music, take the opportunity to visit local shops and dine at local restaurants. May shops and boutiques offer extended-hour shopping. The event features more than 30 different artists, and also includes lots of activities for kids and families.
First Friday Art Walk is one of the most popular city events in Ocala and is the perfect place to see and be seen. It spans fifteen city blocks within Ocala’s historic downtown core, with visual and performing artists, who are partnered with downtown businesses, and who occupy booth spaces located on the sidewalks in front of storefronts.
Ultimately, the event not only offers Ocala residents the opportunity to explore the city’s art, but also to support Ocala’s creative talent while enjoying a night under the strs in historic downtown.
This Friday, February 5th, Art Walk will revolve around the theme of love, as this is the month of Valentine’s Day. This month’s Art Walk features a “Bottles of Love” treasure hunt presented by Jezebel’s and the Brick City Betties.
