Get your new year’s resolutions on track by shopping local and fresh!
Now that the holiday dust has settled and people are getting back into their routines, local farmers’ markets are resuming their regular schedules, as well, and there is plenty to check out in the new year!
The 326 Community Market is reopening in a new location at the intersection of US Highway 441 and County Road 326. The market is open on Thursdays from 2-6pm and offers a wide variety of raw and prepared foods, including produce, micro greens, goats milk products, fresh baked goods, fermented fruit/veggie drinks, ice cream and popcorn. The market also hosts vendors who sell handmade crafts, such as jewelry, bags, bentonite clay products, and wooden gifts, to name a few. The market is always looking for vendors, particularly those with farm veggies to sell. The general rule that vendors need to abide by is “you need to make it, bake it, craft it or grow it.” For more info on the market, check out their Facebook page.
Another great market to check out is the Reddick Friendship Market open on Fridays from 2-6pm.. The market offers homemade ice cream, fresh eggs, artisan crafts, fresh produce, baked goods, and much more. It is a wonderful place to support local farmers and business while getting a bit of grocery shopping done! Come check it out at 15115 NW Gainesville Road in downtown Reddick. Get more details and happenings by visiting their Facebook page.
Last but not least, pay a visit to Tuesdays at Tractor Supply, located at 7351 North US Highway 441 north of Ocala. Here, you will find grass-fed Jersey milk, farm-fresh eggs, plenty of produce and delicious baked goods, homemade ice cream and yogurt, and locally-made crafts. The market is open Tuesday from 3-6pm, with plenty more info on their Facebook page.
With all of the wonderful local markets and goodies, 2016 is sure to be delicious.
