Jumbolair Aviation Estates, an enormous compound in Ocala that features over 500 acres of land, a private airplane hangar and what some have called the longest private paved runway in America, has been sold for $9.5M.
The compound that was once owned by the Vanderbilt family as a massive horse farm now finds itself in the hands of Jumboland Development, LLC. Records for the Florida Division of Corporation show that the Melbourne based company is managed by Robert and Debra Bull.
The Bulls got quite a package with Jumbolair Aviation Estates. Their purchase includes 550 acres, a 7,550 foot paved runway, the accompanying airplane hangar, the 7,696 square foot mansion formerly belonging to Murial Vanderbilt- a great-great-granddaughter of railroad tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt- a 1,000 square foot pool house and bar set, and an 8,735 square foot banquet facility. The package does not, however, include additional property inside the land that was purchased separately, including John Travolta's home by the foot of the runway.
As for the property's new owners, Robert Bull is the owner of CMS Mechanical Services, a heat and air conditioning company. He declined to release a specific statement regarding his purchase, but his agent Todd Fennell described him as "excited" and planning to "continue the tradition and enhance it."
