The US News and World Report recently constructed a list of the best places to retire to within the continental United States. Not surprisingly, the Sunshine State was well represented on that list- a list that featured the seat of Marion County.
According to the US News and World Report's survey, Ocala sits sixth in line for the title of "best retirement destination" in the country. Citing the area's penchant for breeding horses and "the rolling hills and green pastures of surrounding horse farms meld into the urban center of the city, where a burgeoning logistics industry takes advantage of the centralized location in the heart of Florida," Ocala checks in just behind Lancaster, PA, which rounds out the top five.
Also included in the top ten of that survey were six other cities in the state of Florida. Sarasota led the way at the top spot, followed by Fort Myers, Port St. Lucie and Naples in the next three spots. Also in the top ten were Miami at #9, and Melbourne at #10.
The US News and World Report also lists Ocala as the fifth fastest growing area in the United States, 69th best place to live in the country and tenth best place to live in the state of Florida.
