A 617,000 square foot Amazon warehouse in Ocala has been sold for approximately $58.4M.
Marion County property records show that the future Amazon fulfillment center cost approximately $50M to build for the Connecticut-based CFI Ocala Property LLC. CFI then sold the building for a profit of nearly eight and a half million dollars to Lex Ocala LLC, which is based in New York.
The warehouse is located in the Ocala/Marion County Commerce Park at 3400 NW 35th St. Road. Other tenants in the park include FedEx and AutoZone.
Initally, Red Rock Developments, the company that built the warehouse in Ocala, did so without publicly naming a primary tenant for the building. It was only much later in the process that Amazon came along and announced its intentions of using the space for another one of its fulfillment centers.
When Amazon's plans for this warehouse come to fruition, it could represent a step in the right direction for the local economy. The opening of the fulfillment center is expected to happen late in the summer, and could see the addition of 120 jobs in Marion County right off the bat. The jobs are expected to pay about $15 an hour and could ultimately wind up doubling in number.
