Choosing the right real estate agent is one of the most important decisions you will make when you are ready to buy or sell a home. Why? Well, your agent is supposed to represent you through every step of the often long process while looking out for your best interests, so selecting someone who fits this bill is imperative.
Some strategies include:
Word of mouth. Surely, there is at least one person you know who has bought or sold a home. Simply ask which agent they worked with and what kind of experience they had. Would they recommend the agent? Why or why not?
Professional Experience. The amount of experience an agent has can make a huge difference during the entire process. An experienced agent knows the ins and outs of buying and selling homes and has probably gone through several challenges that may occur.
Compatability. Will you and the real estate agent you choose click? While recommendations from people you know and an agent’s past buying and selling experience are helpful indicators, sometimes people just don’t work well together. It’s a good idea to meet with potential agents before deciding to work with them to get a sense of compatibility.
